11/10/23 THE RIGHTFUL OWNER
The problem with a claim to being the rightful owner of the land of Israel (whether through force, deception, squatting, majority rule, fancy legal maneuvering, political intrigue), is that God (the creator, owner and ruler of the universe), gave it to the line of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (aka as ISRAEL), with a promise of final title deed, regardless of the attempts by its enemies throughout millennium, to bully, steal, or defraud by human argumentation, military occupation, legal documentation or political declaration.
When a robbery takes place, it does not change the facts, regardless of the thief's identity or supposed authority. Divine rule is the final word. Corrupted councils, legislatures, courts, governments, politicians or popular opinion does not override God's rule.
God deliberately designated Isaac (whom God called the child of the promise), the son of Sarah (Abraham's first wife), rather than the sons of Hagar (Abraham's Egyptian concubine, whose son was called the child of the flesh), and Keturah (Abraham's second wife), as the rightful heir to the promised land. God also designated the younger twin of Isaac and Rebecca (Jacob, aka Israel), rather than the firstborn twin, Esau (aka Edom) as the heir of the promise. God made other promises to the sons of Hagar and Keturah. There are distinct differences in promises God made to Israel and Abraham's other descendants.
The Bible points out the enmity and hostility that the descendants of these other tribes (nations) held against Israel, which was not only evident in Biblical history, but is seen in Biblical prophecy (past, present and future).
We are seeing some of these prophecies being fulfilled today, in spite of the fact that tribes, nations and empires have risen and fallen during the thousands of years since those prophecies were made. There have been times in history that these prophecies could not have taken place, but we have been watching impossible fulfillment take place over the past seventy-five years.
The rightful heir, Israel, has been opposed and oppressed by the descendants of Hagar and Keturah (the progenitors of the Arab people) for thousands of years and the religion of modern Arab people (Islam) has opposed the ancient faith of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Judaism) for the last fourteen hundred years.
Not only did God state His plan for Israel's future clearly, He foretold the attempts to dispossess the rightful owners and He named the kingdoms and empires that would try to dispossess Israel including Russia, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq., Iran, the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Greece, Rome and even China. God is very clear in the ultimate deliverance of Israel and He is very clear on the defeat of those pagan nations of the world.
Israel does not have spiritual salvation because of its bloodline. Salvation comes only to those who trust in Christ as the Savior of the world. There is no difference in salvation for Jew or Gentile, civilized or barbarian, male or female. The promises made to Israel must not be confused with the promises God made to the world concerning salvation. However, in both cases, the promises are secure because they are the promises of God.
God's promises and His prophecies are given to us, to turn us from sin to salvation through Christ. It has taken thousands of years, but the end is on schedule.
Consider the words of Peter concerning this truth.
2 Peter 3:1-18
1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
