09/26/23 GOD'S REVEALED WILL

09/26/23 GOD'S REVEALED WILL

THE WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD. This is what Paul said he proclaimed and this is what God wants His preachers to proclaim today.

Liberals proclaim a Divine "LOVE" that is soft on sin and betrays the holy nature of God. Such a love is not part of the whole counsel of God.

Reformed and Calvinists proclaim a Divine "WRATH" and a runaway "SOVEREIGNTY" that is untempered by and inconsistent with Divine love, justice, mercy, grace, redemption. Such a wrath and sovereignty is not part of the whole counsel of God.

Legalists proclaim a salvation based on a "HUMAN STANDARD" (while claiming it is a Divine standard), and they declare that standard to be essential to salvation. Such a standard is not part of the whole counsel of God.

Then there is Biblical salvation, which is Divine in origin, universal in provision and availability, life changing in power, just and righteous in judgment, sacrificial and self denying in love, holy in nature. Such a salvation is part of the whole counsel of God.

I hope your pastor is giving you the whole counsel of God.

09/25/23 CALLED TO SPIRITUAL WARFARE

09/25/23 CALLED TO SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Since the beginning of my pastoral ministry in 1969, I have sought to teach my people the word of God, the doctrines of salvation, the way of holiness, the life of perfect love, the cost of true discipleship, the meaning of sacrifice and loving our enemies, the unity and submission of the local body, and as a pastor, I have endeavored to prepare my people to live Biblical lives in a rapidly changing and thoroughly corrupting world.

The Bible refers to this kind of preaching as prophetic. Not in the sense of being a seer, one who foretells the unseeable future, but one who declares the unfolding events, which are clearly written in Scripture for our learning, our training, our comfort and our admonition.

Romans 15:4
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1 Corinthians 10:11
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

I have not only reported the accomplished salvific work of Christ's life, death, resurrection and intercession, I have also tried to build believers in the faith, which makes us more than conquerors, equips us as soldier of the cross to fight the good fight, establish believers in the truth so that they might stand firm.

Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Philippians 1:27-29
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Colossians 4:12

12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

2 Thessalonians 2:15-17
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

In recent years the world has been moving closer to a more demonic state of affairs. As a teaching pastor, I endeavor to prepare and equip my people for the coming chaos and intensified attacks on Christians (those who are obeying Christ by following peace with all men and the holiness of heart and life, without which no man shall see the Lord).

The world, which has rejected God's call to repentance, and the"Christians" who follow a diluted and corrupted message of carnal salvation, will vent their anger on the true followers of Christ who do not worship the State as they follow Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Our weapons are not carnal...
We wrestle not against flesh and blood...
Christ's kingdom is not of this world...
God told us to love our enemies and do good to those who do us wrong...
Believers are to give their own life, rather than take the lives of others.

This does not mean that God won't use men to accomplish His purposes, but it does mean that God does not send His people to be instruments of destruction.

Remember,
There is no New Testament verse that commands Christians to shed human blood.
There is no New Testament verse that commends Christians for shedding human blood.
There is no New Testament verse that allows Christians to shed human blood.

There are New Testament verses that forbid Christians from shedding human blood.

The world has war because it has rejected Christ.
America will suffer internal upheaval and violence because it has rejected the Lordship of Christ over them.

People who have boasted in their patriotism have stood by and paid for all the wickedness of our present society.
People who have stood by and complained about the evil in our present society have mocked Christians who bear the Sword of the Spirit, rather than the sword of steel.

Serious Christians have taken steps to protect America's morals, freedoms, families, children and faith.
However, those who claim to trust in chariots to save our country will turn against those who trust in the Name of the Lord God.

It is inevitable that evil will destroy America. It appears to be making its entrance. God can forestall it, but believers need to be ready to stand firm in the faith and fight the good fight of faith, not the fight of flesh.

The New Testament bears witness to Christian non-violence; Church history bears witness to Christian non-violence. It is a perverted Christianity that expects Christians to be instruments of carnal violence.

09/23/23 ...FOR ALL OF HIS BENEFITS...

09/23/23 ...FOR ALL OF HIS BENEFITS...

I praise the Lord for His watchful, loving care, at all times and specifically these past few days.
I don't take His provision and protection for granted.
I know He is the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
I know He does all things well.
I know that He works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

My heart breaks when other people suffer, at any time. But during the times, in which people suffer because of natural disaster, it becomes very clear that anyone of us could be afflicted by sickness, accident, violence, or losses of various kinds.

I don't take it lightly that my family was spared loss of property, health, loved one or personal life. During times of natural phenomena there are fires, floods and other life changing events.

We are not promised exemption from troubles and trials. In fact, we are told to expect difficult testing. After the wind and water and possibilities of tragedy have passed us by, I praise Him for His mercy and benevolence.

"Thank You Lord. Help me to use my blessings for your honor and glory. I know that You are the One Who has kept me through the storm and through the night.

Lord, I ask that you will extend your provisions of grace (sustaining grace and advancing grace) to those who are suffering tonight; in Jesus Name..."

09/23/23 YEARNING FOR THE RETURNING

09/23/23 YEARNING FOR THE RETURNING

Forty years ago I attended an Evangelistic Conference, which involved Christians from all over the USA. I took three of our church men with me. Each night we would meet after the final session and ride back to our accommodations on the same bus.

One evening it appeared that we would not make our connection (because of the hundreds of delegates). I sat on the bus, peering into the crowd, trying to locate our friend. I stared so hard that my eyes started to hurt.

Sometimes I feel like the father of the prodigal in Luke 15 as I look for someone to return from their wandering ways. I peer down the road, searching for a specific face. Sometimes my eyes hurt, my heart aches, and I retire for the night, hoping that the loved one will finally return.

I realize that the father in the parable represents our Heavenly Father. But we are His family and we miss those who have separated themselves from us, from the family of faith, which has loved them through the good times and through the bad.

Jesus indicated that He too longed for His scattered people to come to Him. I cannot imagine the pain I have brought Him when I have wandered away. I cannot imagine the pain He suffers because of the vast multitude who will not humble themselves and come to Him.
Please re-read the parable and allow God to speak to you.

Luke 15:11-32
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

09/23/23 RECONCILED AND REPURPOSED

09/23/23 RECONCILED AND REPURPOSED

I am not a hoarder (contrary to popular opinion), nor am I a collector. I am a re-purposer. (I realize that some folks do not see the distinction, hehehe), but I like to get every bit of value out of something while I can, and then extend its usefulness when it seems to have ended its original purpose.

I approach my ministry this way. I see people mess up their lives and I do all I can to persuade them to surrender to Jesus. Even when they have wasted their opportunities, betrayed their responsibilities, rejected those who love them, I still reach out in hope.

However, unlike inanimate stuff, humans make their own decisions. I still encourage people to make Biblical decisions, while they can. But no one can make another person do the right thing. After all, God calls, invites, draws and even drives people, but He allows us to make our own choices.

Whatever the sin is that holds a loved one, there is still heartbreak for the one who will not humble himself or herself and yield to the will of God.

There comes a time when the door of invitation closes, finally, forever. Don't miss out of the loving mercy of God. Take steps to do the right thing and to become the person God wants you to be.

09/23/23 CULTURES MATTER

09/23/23 CULTURES MATTER

For those of you who don't realize where Socialism takes you, consider this statement from the UN.

For those of you who don't see a problem with unprotected borders, keep this statement in mind while our country is being flooded by cultures that run their raw sewage into the public streets of their home country.

By the way, people do bring their culture with them, as well as their view of health and cleanliness.

All people matter, but law, order, health, hygiene, ethics must not be compromised or curtailed.

I know that the UN has been wanting to make the US like 3rd world countries since 1960, because my Liberal teachers, fresh out of Teacher's colleges told us this when I was in Jr. High School.

Lowering our standard of living is their plan to achieve social equality (here and around the world). Such a plan does not work. (Oh, and remember, Socialism lowers our standard of living, but raises the ruling class.

ACCORDING TO THE U.N.

Around 60% of the world's population, either have no toilet at home or one that doesn't safely handle human waste.

09/22/23 FOR OUR OWN GOOD

09/22/23 FOR OUR OWN GOOD

When I say that we (saved people) can obey God, we can keep the commands of God, we can resist temptation, that God makes it possible for us to not sin (willfully disobey God), I realize it is contrary to what most people are taught today in American churches, yet it is what the Bible says.

I also know that false teachers sometimes say these same things. But just because false teachers say something does not mean that it is false.
Some false teachers say there is only one God, AND THEY ARE RIGHT.
Some false teachers say God is Triune, AND THEY ARE RIGHT.
Some false teachers say Jesus physically arose from the dead, AND THEY ARE RIGHT.
Being right about some things does not make them right about everything and being wrong about some things does not make them wrong about everything.
Don't think I am wrong just because some false teachers say the same thing.

Whether I make my viewpoint clear concerning God providing us a pure heart and enabling us to live righteously is one thing, but to say that the Bible denies these thing in the Old and the New Testament, is an obvious and demonstrable error.

So, if the Bible does teach that we can be cleansed from all sin and we can be empowered to live holy lives, then folks need to admit it and embrace it as the promise of God.

As children we often faced situations that we thought were impossible. But someone (such as a parent, a teacher, a coach, a friend, a doctor, a rescuer) told us we could do it. They encouraged, instructed, demonstrated, assisted and they might have even scorned or threatened us if we did not do what we needed to do. But with their support we tried to do what we thought was undoable, and we did it. At the time of the challenge we were doubtful, we were angry, we were frightened. But our mentor knew we could do it.

The same is true concerning living the victorious life over sin. God makes it possible and I try to encourage folks to trust Jesus completely and follow Him fully.

Living a life of total commitment and obedience is not a life of suffering; it is a life of faith and fulfillment. It is not a form of punishment or torment, it is fundamental blessing of being a Christian. It is God's seal of approval.

2 Timothy 2:19
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

My desire for folks to live in a way that is pleasing to God is not for my own well being: it is for God's glory and for the good of the person who has been living an up and down, on and off, in and out, hot and cold, vacillating spiritual life.

09/22/23x09/22/23 IT IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT

09/22/23 IT IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT

Christians need to understand that wilful disobedience to God's word separates them from God. We are surrounded by people who tell us that we must sin, that God does not save us from sin, that God does not provide salvation from all sin and sinning, they also misrepresent Scripture by telling us that God is glorified by our sinning.

Hebrews 10:26-27
26 For if we sin (continue to sin) wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Remember, to break one commandment is to break all of the commandments, as far as guilt and corruption are concerned. We do not have to sin at all (certainly not willfully) after we are saved. But if we do sin after we are saved, we must seek restoration, reconciliation with God, through Christ (our Advocate), by faith, repentance, confession, daily submission.

1 John 2:1-6
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

If a believer disobeys God, then he must seek the Lord immediately. If a person does not turn immediately from willful disobedience then he is continuing in disobedience. To continue in sin is not living in or by faith. We are children of God by faith, we are saved by faith we live by faith. That which is not of faith is sin and the wages of sin is death.

I am not talking about rules and regulations religion, I am talking about salvation that saves us from sin and sinning. Just as it is natural for a lost person to sin, it is natural for a born again person to live righteously. The lost sin because they love darkness. The saved overcome temptation to sin because they love God.

1 John 3:2-10
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Just as God does not remember the believer's sins against him, God does not remember the former faith of those who turn from faith. God tells us to cleave to the Lord and continue in the faith and in the grace of God.

Acts 11:23
23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

Acts 13:43
43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

Acts 14:22
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

09/21/23 AIN'T WE A SMART GENERATION

09/21/23 AIN'T WE A SMART GENERATION

I have learned something from Christians who think they don't need pastors to teach, lead and rule in the power and will of God.

Either the first century believers were the dumbest converts that have ever come into a right relationship with Jesus, since God ordained the planting of churches, the appointing of elders and deacons, called and gifted men to be teachers and shepherds, instructed believers to know and honor and follow and obey God's chosen leaders, gave instruction for order and unity in the local body; but He does not apply the same principles to today's church, because He changed His mind or because today's believers are more pure and more mature than first century believers.

or...

God still expects the present day church to live by the directives He handed down to the Church through the apostles.

I have not seen a Biblical passage, in which God rescinded His plan for churches, pastors and parishioners. I have not seen a church that has improved on what God gave to the early church.

I think I will go with God's revelation rather than man's imagination.

09/21/23 CHOOSE YOUR DIETICIAN CAREFULLY

09/21/23 CHOOSE YOUR DIETICIAN CAREFULLY

It is one thing for a baby to be on pablum, and of course we expect the infirm to subsist on a weaker diet, but when anyone stays on "milk," rather than advancing to "meat," then that person will never reach their full potential.

In fact, when the spiritual diet is compromised, the person will lose all taste for spiritual nourishment and will therefore turn to "fillers" and substitutes, which actually will poison the system and bring spiritual death.

GROW UP. Don't settle for the devil's fare.

09/21/23 TODAY'S FIFTH COLUMN

09/21/23 TODAY'S FIFTH COLUMN

We are living at a time when "Christians" are more committed to a country, a political party, a theological system, a denomination, an individual, than they are to Jesus Christ and His word.

So, are we supposed to be surprised that society, Americanized "Christianity," "Bible teachers," political parties and politicians, educators, scientists, financiers and jurists are leading America further from God, truth, salvation, morality, and into the deepest chaos we have ever experienced?

09/20/23 RESCUE THE CHILDREN

09/20/23 RESCUE THE CHILDREN

Did you ever get to the ferry too late?
I did, in the 1970s. I got to the Cedar Island Dock in time to watch it pull out. If I had caught the ferry I only had a 31 mile drive to my home in Kinnakeet, but now I had to drive 40 miles back to Morehead and another 240 through New Bern, Little Washington, Plymouth, Columbia, Manteo, Nags Head, Rodanthe, Salvo and finally home in Avon.

I am glad there was another way home, but I sure would like to have caught the ferry.

Over 50 years ago there was prayer in school. I remember some wonderful teachers that loved the Lord and led us in morning devotions and prayer.

But that ferry was getting ready to leave the dock, and it wasn't headed the right direction.

Prayer in school was stopped (regardless of the way folks want to explain it). Bible reading was also forbidden. Don't tell me I am wrong, I have the receipts.

Christian pastors and parishioners whined and complained, as they stood by and watched Secular Humanism tighten its grip around the throats of America's youth. Anti-Bible, anti-church, anti-Christian Change-Agents became the custodians and new parents of the children.

AMERICA never recovered. IN FACT, America has been destroyed because of turning from God. I mean thoroughly and irretrievably ruined.

Immediately the presence of Christian input and parental authority was curtailed and finally removed. Immorality and perversion and anti-American Statism rushed in for the Coup-De-Grace.

America did not lose its freedom, families and faith; America gave it up as a sacrifice to the religion of Statism.

I have never been in favor of putting prayer or Bible back into the hands of the public schools.

Not only have Bible believing teachers been replaced by anti-Bible priests and priestesses, the system has made it illegal to teach, promote and practice Biblical Christianity. Even when Christian teachers are in the classrooms, they are forbidden to actually proclaim Christ and the Bible, while the lies of Humanism are in all of the books and subjects and departments.

Over time we have not only seen Secular Humanism rise to supreme power, we have seen world religions, which hate Christ and His word and hate America, given preferential treatment.

I STILL REJECT THE IDEA OF PUTTING PRAYER AND BIBLE INTO PUBLIC SCHOOL because there would not be anything Christian about it. It would be in the hands of God haters, Bible deniers. Look what government education did to America's children, churches and core values.

In fact, we should not be trying to get the pagans to be in charge of teaching our children about faith, we should be rescuing whatever children are left, from the corruption and destruction of a wicked system.

Look what the system did to American Education, American Exceptionalism, American Values, American Morals, American Common Sense, American Standard of Living, American Stability, American Leadership to the entire world. It already misled millions of American children and youth into eternal darkness. And now you want to give them more power to ruin your children. What is wrong with folks.

That ferry pulled out of the dock long ago, but praise the Lord, we had another way available. Sadly, very few pastors, churches, parents rescued the children from the watery grave of Humanism and Socialism and deviance.

09/19/23 HE IS NOT "A" GOD

09/19/23 HE IS NOT "A" GOD

The false view of The Watch Tower religion is that Jesus is "a god," Which is based on their errant translation of John 1:1. Though the Greek does not include the definite article, the immediate context and the fact that the same sentence and grammar structure is used in many other passages, makes it clear that the phrase, "and the word was God." is referring to the only God, the True and Living God, the God of the Old Testament, the God Who is called Alpha and Omega (First and Last, Beginning and Ending, before Whom there was no God and after Whom there will be no God).

Linguistically, Scripturally, Theologically and Historically our translation which says, "and the word was God" is accurate, and we are correct in saying Jesus was God and is God (which indicates that Jesus is THE GOD), rather than saying that Jesus is, "a god" or "another god," or some exalted creature, or some advanced spiritual being.

09/19/23 THE MESSAGE IS IN THE MESSAGE

09/19/23 THE MESSAGE IS IN THE MESSAGE

Don't scoff at this next statement; it is not "word salad."

The message of the Bible is found in the message of the Bible.

The message of the Bible is not found in selective texts taken out of context. Remember,
"A text out of context is a pretext."

God's revelation to and through the prophets was clear and accurate. God's enlightenment of believers by the Holy Spirit is truth. Still, the enemy of our soul seeks to darken the human mind to God's provision and offer of salvation. This is why we must search the Scriptures.

Though God clearly, accurately, truthfully communicated His salvation through words, God also demonstrated His revelation through His relationships, His actions, His works and through His Son.

When God's Words are understood in the context of His Nature, His Character and His Actions, then His message is clear.
He explained His word (Logos), through the incarnation and the atonement.
Of course, the only way to have a clear understanding of God is to have the mind of of Christ, which comes from faith and total submission to His Spirit and His word.

There are people who falsely explain God by systematically rearranging His words to fit a warped narrative rather than fit His actual Being and His revelation.

Those who use God's own words against Him are lazy, dishonest and the doing the work of the devil.

God's words are to be understood in the light of His nature, His consistent character, His relationships and His actions. If our view of God and His word does not conform us to the image of God and does not produce holiness of heart and life, then we have a skewed view of God.

Years ago I read that an evil person is dangerous, whether he wields a gun or a Bible.

Let God be His own interpreter.

09/19/23 ALL THINGS CONSIDERED

09/19/23 ALL THINGS CONSIDERED

Considering all of the provisions, all of the commands, all of the invitations, all of the examples, all of the warnings, which we find in the Bible concerning repentance, faith (and the obedience which faith produces) and confession, do not be fooled into thinking you have no part or no choice in your salvation. Such a belief system is a man made theology rather than God's revelation.

If the devil deceives you into believing that God does not give you a choice, then your failure to receive the gospel and believe on Christ is your choice to reject the Savior.

We are not saved by default or by presumption.
We are saved by grace through faith. It is the faith we exercise, not God's faith in Himself.
We are not saved by unilateral, unconditional election.
We are saved because we see our need and we hear God's call and we choose whom we will serve.

This is NOT the same as saying we save ourselves or that we design our own salvation. God created us and provided Christ for us, in order for us to turn from sin, turn to God and be saved from sin and sinning.

09/11/23 PRAY FOR ME WHILE I DENY JESUS

09/11/23 PRAY FOR ME WHILE I DENY JESUS

Recently I saw a video of a church service in a community where a young person had committed suicide because he had been bullied by other kids in his school.

After the pastor addressed the sad and tragic issue for a while, one of the parishioners stood up and spoke to the situation. She was a school teacher in the Public School System and indicated how heart broken she was and how sad to know that she had the answer, but she IS NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT JESUS. Then she had the audacity to ask the church to pray for her and other Christians working in the PS System.

DO WHAT? Was she even conscious when she made such an insane prayer request? A Christian cannot say that they are not allowed to talk about Jesus or offer Jesus or give a witness for Jesus. Yes, you might be fired, but you cannot say how sad you are while you are hiding the truth form the most needy people.

I know some of you don't agree with me, but then again, you are probably wrong about other things as well.

But, as bad as it was for her to stand there and admit that she denies Jesus, I looked at others in the congregation and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a family of people who know the truth about the State and the truth about PS Education and the truth about the cost of discipleship.

I admit, I don't know what those people did after the service. But I do know that the video did not indicate that anyone, including the pastor, stood up and offered the truth about standing for Jesus, whatever the cost may be.

I know there were at least three people present in that sanctuary who had been taught that such silence was complicity, but they did not speak up (at least at that time). However, such a scenario is not that unusual. Very few pastors teach their people to raise their children for God. Very few churches provide spiritual solace, training, sanctuary, support for people to resist and reject Secular Humanism and Statist religion.

Until people start to love God as they ought and to hate sin as they ought then Jesus will not be Lord of those churches, and the children will continue to be sacrificed on the altars of Molech.

09/16/23 TIME TO GET SERIOUS

09/16/23 TIME TO GET SERIOUS

When leadership is not subject to legitimate rule, tyranny reigns.
When a nation is not answerable to legitimate law, the nation suffers.
When a church does not follow Biblical authority, the church and community suffers.

"Freedom" without accountability is anarchy, whether social or spiritual.

There comes a time when God calls people to accountability. When that happens there will be great losses, for time and eternity.

Christians have a responsibility to submit to legitimate authority in national and church issues.

When tyranny reigns, blood flows in the streets.
When good men do nothing, blood flows in the streets.
When anarchy runs rampant, blood flows in the streets.

Christians do not spill the blood of their enemies.
The enemies of Christ spill the blood of Christians, as if they are doing God's will.

Christians bear the "sword of the Spirit," not the sword of steel.

Bibles, ballots and bullets are the three ways that people choose national rule.
When the Bible is removed, the ballot will also be removed, leaving only bullets.

Jesus spilled His own blood for His enemies.
Christians also spill their own blood for the good fight of faith and the winning of the lost.

We (Christians) wrestle (fight) not against flesh and blood (other humans), but against spiritual powers.
The weapons of our (Christian) warfare are not carnal (material) but spiritual, for the pulling down of strongholds.
When the armor of God is not our armor, we are already losers, regardless of our finances, politics, education, social status.
When the "sword of the Spirit," is exchanged for the sword of steel, we have already lost to the enemy.

American Christians did not lose the battle in the Schoolhouse or the Courthouse or the Statehouse; American Christians lost the battle in their own houses when then failed to faithfully follow Jesus in their everyday lives, in the raising of their children and in their family affairs.

There comes a time for personal and national accountability. Whether a nation or an individual, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.

After declaring His judgment against those who disobeyed the Law of Moses, God tells believers that those who have known Him and turned from Him will face a much worse punishment.
Hebrews 10:30-31
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

09/16/23 THE BAPTISM THAT PURIFIES THE HEART

09/16/23 THE BAPTISM THAT PURIFIES THE HEART

The primary work of God brought about by the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is a pure heart (Acts 15:9).
The evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is perfect love from a pure heart.
The fulfilling of the law is love from a pure heart.
Jesus died to purify us, even as He is pure.
God conforms us to the image of His Son, Who loved us with a perfect love.

Yes, salvation includes forgiveness, justification, regeneration, cleansing from a guilty conscience as well as cleansing and deliverance from a life of sin, but it also includes the purifying of the heart.

The Bible tells us that God cleanses our hands and purifies our hearts. These are two parts of salvation

Jesus commissioned the Church to evangelize the whole word, but He stipulated that the work of the Church should be carried out by believers who were filled with the Holy Spirit; which filling would cleanse them from the Old Man, the Carnal Mind.

The initial work of salvation comes to the sinner by grace through faith.
Likewise, the fullness of salvation comes to the believer by grace through faith.

Initial Sanctification comes when sinners ask God for salvation, at the time of our Justification.
Entire Sanctification comes when believers ask God for deliverance from the Double Mind, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
Progressive Sanctification is the daily growth in the grace that comes to those who have entered into Justification and those who have entered into the Fullness of the Holy Spirit.

We do not grow into salvation and we do not grow into heart purity.
We do grow in the salvation that we have received and we grow in the purity of heart that we have received.

God's word says,
James 4:8
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

God's word says,
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

God's word says,
Matthew 5:6, 8
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

The purity of heart and holiness of life are distinctives which are not preached or practiced by many local churches. However, the Bible says,
Hebrews 12:14
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness (the sanctification), without which no man shall see the Lord:

09/15/23 LET IT SHOW

09/15/23 LET IT SHOW

Here is a thought for you Christians who look like you just ate a persimmon. Why not allow the joy of the Lord to visit your face" When you are out and about, why not let others see the joy of Jesus on your face. And don't lose your joy just because you run into a joy robber. Your joy should be greater than the misery that someone wants to dump on you.

I greet a lot of people when I am walking in public areas or walking through stores or walking along the shore or fishing. I greet them with a smile and a friendly word. Most of the people I greet return the kindness. Sometimes the scowl on their face disappears because of the warm and kind greeting I share. (Yes, occasionally there are folks who maintain an aloofness or angry countenance).

When I greet them (with some hope of sharing Biblical truth) I want them to think, "Somebody must have just given him $500," rather than think, "Somebody must have just beaten him up and stolen $500." Then, when we talk they find out my joy is in the Lord and not in the things of this world.

I am not talking about simply, "putting on a face." I am talking about letting the joy of the Lord give you joy in your heart and a smile on your face. Even if you don't get to lead someone to the Lord, at least they will encounter someone who has been made alive and joyful because of a right relationship with Jesus. Let's face it, they probably already know some "miserable Christians."

09/15/23 TWO PROBLEMS

09/15/23 TWO PROBLEMS

Here are two main problems for the person who will not submit to Biblical doctrine, counsel, correction, reproof and instruction in righteousness.

1. God commands and requires this submission.

2. The person who does not submit will not only continue in their error and sin, they will go deeper into darkness, moving further from God and spreading poison to others instead of life.

09/15/23 NO DIFFERENCE

09/15/23 NO DIFFERENCE

Q. Concisely and correctly stated, what is a Messianic Jew?

A. A believer in Christ as Savior, which means a true follower of Christ and the New Testament.

There is no difference in salvation for Jew and Gentile. If a Jew observes cultural events, that is one thing, when anyone adds to the New Testament revelation of what salvation is (including Old Testament specific practices for Jews), then they are corrupting the gospel; that is not salvation.

09/15/23 SIN IS THE PATH TO ETERNAL DEATH

09/15/23 SIN IS THE PATH TO ETERNAL DEATH

I watch in horror as people turn loose of eternal treasure, reaching for infernal pleasure.

Death (separation from God) is the last enemy and sin is the path to the gallows.

09/14/23 OBEDIENT TO GOD

09/14/23 OBEDIENT TO GOD

Jesus endorsed legitimate taxation, He did not endorse State robbery, oppression, corruption, child abuse, family disintegration, attacks against His word or His Church or His salvation.
God requires Christians to submit to legitimate human authority, but must never disobey God's revealed word.

God commands Christians to obey God rather than man, when man's rule opposes God's commands.

Being faithful to God is not always easy, but it is always required.

09/13/23 THE GOOD NEWS AND THE BAD

09/13/23 THE GOOD NEWS AND THE BAD

Don't judge me too quickly. OK, are you ready? If you start reading this, you really need to read all of it. It isn't long.

So, what is the good side of the worldwide hysteria of Covid19?

It led to the shutting down of Government Schools (which schools led to the destroying of America over the past several decades).

OK, that is not the best part.

It meant parents could see what was being taught to their children during those hours when Amerika's children were being brainwashed to hate America, the Bible, family, Christ, each other, freedom, work, responsibility (and the list goes on), giving them an opportunity to rescue their children from Molech and to rescue their country from godless Socialism.

OK, that is not the best part.

God gave parents the opportunity to pull their children from the dark halls of abuse and deception and prejudice and perversion, with the real option of giving them Home Schooling, Christian Schooling. This would actually improve the educational and learning experience of the children and youth, and it would save them from the predators in the school busses, in the halls and the classrooms.

OK, that is not the best part.

Some parents did finally see the writing on the wall and the planned destruction of their children and their homes, and those parents did rescue their children from a God hating State.

But, of course, there is also bad news.

Most parents, even those who have a Christian heritage and attend conservative churches did not take advantage of the opportunity. They could not wait to send their children back to the altars of sacrifice and the clutches of Humanistic Change Agents.

Pastors had the opportunity to stand for truth, but silently sat by while children were being sold into slavery. At least Esau got a mess of beans.

No one who has sent their children to be taught by any Priest of Secular Humanism has a complaint about the disintegration of their families, the corrupting and damning of their children or the loss of America.

09/13/23 STILL WORRIED ABOUT THE PICTURES ON THE WALL

09/13/23 STILL WORRIED ABOUT THE PICTURES ON THE WALL

I understand the connection between "masking," "medical care," and State control.

I raised the actual control question concerning the root and the main concern for decades (relating to oppression, persecution, legal action, family disintegration, child abuse, social and political reprisals for Christians, and I was ignored or scorned. SO BE IT.

However, I still see very, very few Christians (interpreted this means "almost no Christians") lifting up their voices (from the pulpit or the pew) against the perversions promoted in the government school systems (attacks on Biblical faith and family unity and social morality and pagan intrusion and overthrow of the family).

We, as a Christian society (referring to those who claim a salvific relationship with God through Christ) have kept silent (for fear of social reprisals or for the love of social and financial success), while perversions of every kind have been accepted and paid for with so-called tax money, (children have been groomed into perversion and hatred for Christ and rejection of salvation and separation from family structure and Biblical values), America has been overthrown by the Fifth Column, (often within our own Christian community).

People cry about a mask while their family, their faith and their future is being surrendered and sacrificed daily to government schools, court rooms, State Houses, mammon, Baal. Now America's boys and girls are gender confused, perversion runs rampant, babies are murdered with approval from Government and Churches and individuals who profess faith in Christ. AND THE BEAT GOES ON.

But at least we are being warned about the dangers of wearing a mask. I am not refuting the problem with State control through the "mask" and injections, (in the guise of Health and Safety). I am pointing out that straightening the picture on the wall when the house is a blazing inferno makes you an accessory to the actual crime.

09/13/23 IT PICKS UP SPEED

09/13/23 IT PICKS UP SPEED

There are different paces at which a person can move from God.

Some folks amble or just meander away.
Some folks drift away, becoming preoccupied with less important issues.
Some folks move slowly, but deliberately away from truth and accountability.
Some folks move quickly toward a new attraction.
Often the slow separation becomes a much more urgent pursuit.
Some folks abandon God as if escaping a burning building.

As they get further from God they become more comfortable in their separation from God and more removed from Christian family.

Loved ones reach out to lead them back to salvation, but backsliders hardens their hearts and close their minds to the broken-hearted pleas of loved ones. The pain felt by Christian family is beyond words.

09/12/23 BEWARE OF WORLDLY WISE

09/12/23 BEWARE OF WORLDLY WISE

When a "Bible teacher" interprets Scripture according to the pagan beliefs of Biblical times, rather than accept the fact that the Bible is God's word given by the Holy Spirit through Divinely chosen and guided prophets, then you are being led astray by someone who thinks that he, himself, is smarter, wiser, more knowledgeable than God.

If Bezaleel, himself changes the design of God, making it more appealing or more understandable, then the revelation of God will be lost. Sometimes I encounter people who are gifted in speaking, academics, music, visual artistry, who misrepresent the truth of God in favor of an unenlightened belief system.

I am seeing this in a very appealing series of podcasts and Bible Study animations, by highly educated and talented communicators, as they misrepresent the Biblical truth concerning the fact of only one God and His Tri-Unity through a very impressive project. You better be choosy concerning the people to whom you listen and from whom you learn.

Let me briefly state a vital truth.
Though the Hebrew word, "Elohim" is a plural form of the root word for "G(g)od," Elohim is used in reference to the only true and living God 2300 times in the Old Testament. A simple but careful study shows that this use of Elohim indicates God in Three Persons.

"Elohim" is also used in reference to, idols, men, angels, demons and human leaders approximately 700 times, indicating authority and power in spiritual beings.

There is only one, uncreated, all powerful, all knowing, creator, true and living God, and He is God by nature (character, attributes, power, eternity), whereas others who are sometimes referred to as "elohim," are merely angels, demons or human beings who have been given the place of leadership and influence.

The Bible makes it clear that there is only one God, there has only been one God and there will never be another God. All others who are called, "elohim" are created and limited beings. Some of these spiritual creatures have been Divinely appointed to a place of dignity and leadership, and others have corrupted their God given position in an attempt to usurp the only true God.

God is not one among others, He alone is God.
God is not comparatively supreme, He is uniquely supreme.
God is not in a category with other gods, He is the only God.

09/11/23 OFFICIALLY DECADES OLD

09/11/23 OFFICIALLY DECADES OLD

I remember several decades ago when the USA invited Russian KGB officers to come to America and give training programs across the country, teaching US law enforcement KGB principles and techniques. I also remember that there were few voices raised against such a wicked program.

This came along at the same time the US Government was starting to target Christianity as a hindrance to State control. It was pretty much under the radar, as far as the general US population was concerned (especially most Christians), since they mistakenly equated the State with Christianity. I remember how fellow believers were antagonistic to me when I called on them to stand with us against State oppression, which eventually has filtered into every home and church in America.

Now it is clear that the US was needing the law enforcement principles of Russia to bring in the present social control and force value and behavior changes which conflict with Christian faith standards.

All we need to do is look at the present power and intrusion of the DOJ, FBI, CIA and other Government agencies into the lives of law abiding citizens, conservative citizens and Christian based faith organizations. This is why law enforcement at every level is willing to oppress the weak, the poor, those who hold to established and Christian principles. Not all, but a significant part of law enforcement and the so-called justice system, are willing to do the bidding of the State and excuse themselves by saying, "I am only doing what I am told."

Obviously I am not anti law enforcement and I do not believe that all of law enforcement wants to be oppressive, but even today there are people (including "Christians" and law enforcers), who side with a godless system before they stand with Bible and Christ followers. In fact, many of those who market themselves as patriotic Christians are the first to condemn those who follow Christ as Lord of their entire life.

09/10/23 A TRICKY TRAP

09/10/23 A TRICKY TRAP

I only know of two times to step back from total commitment to a local church (BUT THERE IS NO VERSE in the Bible which tells us to take a break from a local church... NOT ONE).

TWO TIMES
Whether a new convert or a long time believer, whether in a leadership position or a faithful attender, there are two times that a person may step back to examine their relationship with a church, both of which are extreme situations.

FIRST,
If you think your church has been teaching or has recently started teaching doctrines which are contrary to clear Biblical revelation, you may step back but even then you must seek truth and examine the supposed errors in the light of the word of God.

WITH CONDITIONS
Lines of communication must be maintained with pastor and leadership.
It could be that you have a wrong view, which you need to correct.
It could be that there is a misunderstanding, which needs to be cleared up.
It could be an actual heresy that needs to be addressed.
To abandon a pastor or a church without thoroughly confirming the truth of the matter is to misjudge and to possibly blaspheme the work of God.
To align with others, and misrepresent the former church is likely to be bearing false witness against a person, a local congregation.

SECOND,
if you think your church leadership either has a moral failure or that your church is allowing moral failure in the congregation to go unchecked, which is harmful to parishioners or demeans the name of Christ and His church in the community, then you may step back.

WITH CONDITIONS
Even then you must seek truth and examine the accusations or appearances in the light of the word of God. Lines of communication must be maintained with pastor and leadership.
It could be that it is a false view, which you need to correct.
It could be that there is a misunderstanding, which needs to be cleared up.
It could be an actual moral failure that needs to be addressed.
To abandon a pastor or a church without thoroughly confirming the truth of the matter is to misjudge and to possibly blaspheme the work of God.
To align with others, and misrepresent the former church is likely to be bearing false witness against a person, a local congregation.

In neither of these two extreme situations are Christians free to just take a trial separation, without working with church and leadership to actually deal with the supposed problem.
If the problem you are facing is not of such an extreme nature, then you need to maintain a right attitude and relationship with the leadership and the church as you work through your personal problem.

No church should impose legalistic authority over the parishioners.
No church leader should oppress his people.
Neither should parishioners step back, take a break or abandon a church simply because they "feel" uncomfortable.
Make sure that your discomfort is not based in your own personal views, feelings, desires or beliefs.

No church or church leadership should cut off a believer, without meeting with the parishioner and trying to clear up problems.
Likewise, no parishioner should cut off a church or its leadership without meeting with the church and its leadership, trying to clear up problems.

Sadly, there are times when separation between parishioner and church needs to take place. It takes compassion, courage and commitment, regardless of who is in the right or wrong. But it is not something that should be done just to please self. The church is not a club, established under human rules and regulations. It is the established work and will of God, which must be subject to Biblical revelation and the law of love.

If a husband and wife have problems, which seem to be irreconcilable, then they need to get Biblical counsel and spiritual help. Neither the husband or the wife should, "take a break" from the marriage. Likewise, no parishioner should, "take a break" from their church. It is a time when people need to draw closer and be more restorative in their relationship.

The real issue is that a person who, "takes a break" from their local church is actually taking a break from God's family, and therefore, from God Himself.

You will be opening yourself up to more and greater spiritual deception.
You will find it easier to "separate" from God's people, God's family, God's will.
You will find it harder to return to a right relationship with the local church.
You will find people who will encourage you to leave a strong Bible church.
You will begin to feel liberated, as you are being entangled by darkness.

Make right choices, even if those choices are personally difficult and costly.

Adam and Eve thought they had found pleasure, peace, and power once they "separated" from God and His will.

09/10/23 LET THE LIGHT PROTECT YOU

09/10/23 LET THE LIGHT PROTECT YOU

Sometimes the enemy of your soul robs you at gun point, sometimes he robs you through deception, sometimes he robs you through embezzlement.

Sometimes you have no way of avoiding his attacks.
Sometimes we make it easy for him to rob us.

Sometimes you can turn the robber away by standing firm, resisting and fighting the good fight.
Sometimes you can avoid being deceived by being alert, studying Gods word, and submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes you can thwart his burglary by being watchful and being aware and committed to God's will.

If you avoid or if you neglect Biblical standards of personal or church responsibility, you are making yourself a willing target for the enemy of your soul and the enemy of your family.

You better have a Biblical pastor and you better follow Biblical directives or you can count on being robbed and raped and ruined eternally by the dark knight who rules the night.

I point out the importance of a Biblical pastor because this is what God knows we need and He has provided this protection, and requires us to submit to it.

Sometimes the enemy robs you of time.
Sometimes the enemy robs you of talent.
Sometimes the enemy robs you of opportunities.
Sometimes the enemy robs you of material treasure.
Sometimes the enemy robs you spiritual treasures.
Sometimes the enemy robs you of family, friends, faith.
Sometimes the enemy robs you of your inheritance from God, in this present life as well as in eternity.

Yes, Jesus is our only High Priest, but through His Holy Spirit, God has appointed shepherds to lead, to feed and to protect His people. And God has planned for us to have a local church to help us in our growth and ministry. No one has devised a better plan than God has.

09/09/23 THE DRAW OF DARKNESS

09/09/23 THE DRAW OF DARKNESS

I have watched as the falling tide of spiritual life and pastoral leadership have drawn parishioners, allowing the Prince of Darkness to suck the souls of the unsuspecting, the unsubmitted and the unlearned further from God's safe harbor into treacherous waters.

The Siren calls of "Christian" music, "Children's" movies, "Spiritual" books, popular speakers, internet personalities, personal fulfillment, fame, pleasure are abundant and multitudes of church folks are following those godless voices.

Sometimes the enemy offers success and entertainment and promises for the children and youth, and the parents turn from the Light along the shore, taking their children into dark and stormy waters, which will swamp their poorly equipped family and drown their children in worldliness and compromise.

09/07/23 CHANGE YOUR MIND

09/07/23 CHANGE YOUR MIND

This may seem to be sophomoric or it may seem to be wool gathering, but follow it through. There is a very important point I am trying to make.

I realize (which is a good thing to do) that I don't know everything about everything (duh); that I don't know everything about anything; that I don't know anything about everything. But I do know something about some things.
I realize I could be wrong about some of the things, which I think that I know. I have realized my error on occasions and changed my mind to align with new information.

However, when the Bible says something about something, and when the Bible confirms or reaffirms a particular subject, then I am sure that what the Bible says accurate and true. There are passages or subjects in the Bible which may seem to be contradictory, but they actually complement each other. The Bible is God's revelation and therefore it is consistent with itself.

I know that I do not fully understand the concept of the Trinity (or eternity or other truths of the Bible), however I do not have to fully understand, or explain completely those great truths in order to believe them and to be confident that those truths are true.

Since I know what the Bible says about these great truths and I know that the Bible both confirms and affirms these great truths, then I can know that these things are true.
I know that there is only One God.
I know that God is Three Persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
I know the nature of God (such as love, justice, mercy, truth, holiness, eternality) and work of God (such as creation, incarnation, salvation), as it is revealed in the Bible.
I know that the works of God are consistent with the nature of God and that the word of God reveals God's redemptive work.
I know mankind is separated from God because of sin.
I know God loves and provides reconciliation for everyone through faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ.
I know Christ is the only way of salvation.

And, I know the following because the Bible clearly and repeatedly says it.
I know God saves us from sin (through regeneration, justification, sanctification and ultimately through glorification).
I know that God not only forgives and regenerates and cleanses us, but He also transforms us into new creations and conforms us to the likeness of His Son.

I know that God saves sinners from the sins they have committed and God also saves believers from the sin nature they inherited from Adam.
I know that God calls us to be holy, pure, righteous (as He is), and God actually makes the believing believer holy, pure, righteous (as He is).
I know that God saves from all sin in this present evil age.
I know that God cleanses from all sin in this present evil age.
I know that God delivers from all sin in this present evil age.
I know that God leads us not into temptation, but delivers us from evil (the evil one).
I know that God provides a way of escape from all temptation.
I know that God enables believers to walk in the light, even as He is in the light.
I know that God enables believers to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.
I know that God enables believers to walk in love and in truth and in the steps of Jesus.
I know that God calls believers to a perfection, which is attainable, by faith, in this present evil world. (It is not absolute perfection or angelic perfection or Adamic perfection, but it is Atonement Perfection, Biblical Perfection, Christian Perfection.)
I know that God calls and enables believers to be good and to do good.
I know that God is the One Who saves us to the uttermost, the One Who gives us victory, the One Who leads us in triumph.

There is much more I know, because the Bible tells me (all of us) so.
However, there are Christians who have been taught to deny many of these last points I made.

I challenge every Christian who has spoken against the power of God to "conform us to the image of Jesus" to read, to re-read the Bible. If the Bible says something and says it repeatedly and says it clearly, which you have been denying then you need to stop where you are, believe God, change your mind, change your direction and seek Him with your whole heart, love Him with your whole heart, mind, soul and strength.

09/06/23 THE INNOCENTS

09/06/23 THE INNOCENTS

This is a post I made in 2012 and re-posted in 2021. I actually share a document by John MacArthur. Though he holds to the false principles of Reformed Theology and Calvinism, this article offers 26 Biblical reasons that preborn, new born and infant children have eternal life.

I realize that some people will deny this viewpoint. However, I encourage you to at least peruse the 26 points. Because of Scripture, I have always believed that the preborn, the new born and infants are covered by the atonement of Christ. Not only are there 26 arguments indicating that God has made provision for those children, MacArthur points out that there is no passage which actually says those children are lost and bound for hell. This is interesting because many who hold to MacArthur's Reformed and/or Calvinistic doctrinal stance disagree with him.

Let me remind you that the Bible says that Jesus is the Savior of all men. It is in this aspect of the atonement that we see the passage to be absolutely accurate. It is also true that all have sinned and the wages of sin is death, leaving all actual sinners in need of salvation through faith in Christ.

If children are conceived with a sinful nature (and they are) and if that spiritual corruption precludes eternity with God (and it does) then there must be a Divine provision for those children (and there is). Remember too, we are sinners because we have actually and personally sinned. Jesus came to save us from our sins and from our sin nature. Until a person willfully disobeys the law of God, that person is not accountable for sins. However, once a person willfully transgresses, then that person needs regeneration, justification, sanctification.
We were all born with a sinful nature, but we were covered by the atonement, until we sinned intentionally. This means that all men have been saved by the blood of Christ as preborns. If a child lives to the time that he or she willfully sins, then that child needs to believe, repent, confess and follow Jesus. In other words, everyone has been saved by grace, but then their personal sinful action separated them from God and they needed salvation. Everyone has been saved and then they lost that relationship with God. Likewise, if a person comes into a right relationship with God and then goes back into sin, that person has lost their right relationship and they need to be restored through saving faith in Christ.

I forget when MacArthur said these things but I have taught the same things about infant salvation for decades. When I read this, I was surprised because I did not expect MacArthur to see the salvation of pre-born and new born and infant children in the same way that I did because of his Calvinistic view of salvation. As some of you read this, you may wonder if I tinkered with his article. NO, I DID NOT. I did add a few DLG NOTES. But I make it clear that they are my writings rather than MacArthur's.
I would love to have a conversation with folks concerning some of his points which actually contradict some of his other beliefs. It is worth remembering that MacArthur has said, if we could lose our salvation, we would. This article substantiates not only the "if" possibility, but the actual fact that we not only can lose our salvation but all of us have lost our blood bought salvation. Of course, MacArthur does not admit it.

This is an article written by John MacArthur, concerning the redeemed condition of infants. He gives 26 passages to prove his case.

J MacArthur... Salvation of the Innocents

1 Infants belong to God in a special and particular way. In Ezekiel, God describes the slaughter of children born into pagan families as a slaughter of “my children” (Ezek 16:21). This expression of ownership by God over children born into idol worshiping families is stark, and implies God’s care for those children in a personal way.

2 God describes children as “having no knowledge of good and evil” (Deut 1:39). They have a sin nature, but they sin in the way that gravity works: they are pulled down. They do not sin in the way that adults do: adults love sin. Children default to sin, while adults run there.
(DLG NOTE... The passage is referring to the children not having specific knowledge of a specific evil ie idolatry, when it says good and evil.)

3 God refers to Gentile children as unable to discern the difference between right and wrong (Jonah 4:11). Children are born with a sin nature, and even babies love to sin. But they do so without appreciating why they are doing it. Adults sin because they discern what truth is, and have a disdain for it. Infants sin because they are unable to discern. There is a difference.
(DLG NOTES... Infants also have Divine teaching and Divine enablement toward goodness. It is in the atonement. Otherwise there would be nothing laudable, civil, kind, loving in any child.)

4 God refers to children in pagan families who are murdered as “innocents” (Jer 19:4). Obviously this does not mean that they were born without a sin nature, but simply that they had a certain degree of moral innocence. God does not throw around the term “innocent” loosely (nor does he send “innocent” people to hell).

5 God regards infants as victims of the fallen world. This is the example in Ezek 16:4, which is clearly an allegory, but an allegory that only makes sense if children are innocent victims.

6 When God punished the entire nation of Israel for their disobedience in the wilderness, he only took the lives of those who were of fighting age or older (Deut 1:39). This shows that the culpability of those under fighting age is different than the adults, and that accordingly they should not be punished as adults are. If they didn’t deserve to die in the wilderness, they certainly didn’t deserve to go to hell.

7 Babies will not be punished in hell for the sins of their parents—even of Adam. Deuteronomy 24:16 explains that God will not punish children for what their parents did. That does not mean that there are no consequences for sin—a parent who lives a sin filled life will reap the consequences of that life, and one of those consequences is that the children will be raised apart from the knowledge of God. But that is the consequence of sin, and is manifestly different than God judicially punishing someone for sins they did not commit. The consequence of Adam’s sin is that we all are born with a sin nature, but not that God will send us all to hell irrespective of our own actions (more on this one tomorrow when we look at NT judgment passages).

8 This same truth is repeated in Ezekiel 18:20. There, God expressly says that while death is the consequence of a sin nature, God does not execute a second death a person because of his parent’s sin.

9 When God’s prophet told King Jeroboam that his entire family line would be killed, he expanded on this category distinction. He said that all of Jeroboam’s relatives would be punished by a humiliating burial (or lack thereof), but that there was an exception for Jeroboam’s infant son. He would be buried, and people would mourn, “because in him there is found something good toward Yahweh, God of Israel” (1 Kings 14:13). It is not that the infant was crawling around chewing down the high places, but rather that his sin was by his nature, not by his willful rebellion. He was an “innocent” infant, to borrow Jeremiah’s language, and so he will still die, but will be spared the judicial punishment reserved for those who willingly revolted against God. Again, notice that in both this passage and in Jeremiah 19, God uses positive moral terms to apply to infants who die—“innocent” and “good.” Those are moral terms that God does not use willy-nilly.

10 God created all people personally, and designed them to glorify him forever—either by justly suffering in hell, or by giving glory to them in heaven (Ps 139:13-15; Rom 9:224). If infants who died were sent to hell, they would not be suffering justly, as they did not sin in a willful way. In other words, the very justification for hell (namely, and expression of God’s justice) is thwarted if infants go there.

11 Job was a righteous man (Job 2:9), but he suffered tremendously. Job knew what the afterlife was like—after all, it was Job who wrote:
I know my redeemer lives, and in the end he will stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, I will see God in my flesh. I will look at him myself, my eyes will look at him, and not as I look at a stranger. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25-27).
Yet Job also wished that he would have been still-born. He says in Job 3:11-15 that he honestly thought that his life would be easier had he died in the womb. He is not some gothic poet, but is a godly man, who understand the afterlife, the reality of hell, and the need for a redeemer.

12 Job 3:16-19 is the most explicit passage in the Bible concerning the fate of infants who die. Job declares that dead infants go to a place where “There the wicked cease to make trouble, and there the weary find rest. The captives are completely at ease; they do not hear the voice of their oppressor. Both the small and the great are there, and the slave is set free from his master.”
Obviously Job is not describing hell, and his generic use of “infants” as well as “a stillborn child” implies that this is a statement with universal application. All infants who die or who are stillborn go to a place of rest, where there are kings, rich, poor, and the afflicted, and they are all free from torment. This is obviously not a description of hell.

13 Solomon makes a similar and explicit proclamation about the fate of dead infants. He expressly contrasts the fate of the wicked who labor in vain with a dead infant fathered by that wicked person. He concludes that it would be better to be the dead child, because he at least will go to a place of “rest” (Ecc 6:5). Solomon goes on to say that both the child and the father will die, but only the dead child will experience rest.

14 When David’s infant son was sick, David fasted and prayed frantically. When he died, David was at peace and worshiped. His attendants were shocked by this act of worship, and asked what could possibly provoke a loving father to worship at his child’s death. David’s response is well-known: “I’ll go to him, but he will never return to me” (2 Sam 12:23). This is not the despondent response of a mourning parent. It is the confident response of a man after God’s own heart.
By the way, the idea that David was worshiping because he too was one day going to die is so twisted and out of touch with reality that it is difficult to understand. Have you ever seen a parent respond to a child’s death with joy because, hey–after all–that parent is going to one day die too? Moreover, that kind of anti-supernaturalism requires us to believe that David (David!) did not understand the afterlife. Hardly.
David mourning Absalom

15 Moreover, contrast his response to his infant son’s death—for which David was primarily responsible—with his response to his other sons’ death. When Absalom died, there was no death-bed conversion, and there was no mystery about his relationship with the Yahweh. David, who had done everything possible to spare Absalom’s life, was so despondent that Joab had to warn him that unless he changed his attitude, he risked a coup by the troops. Meanwhile, David was shrieking, “My son, Absalom! Absalom, my son, my son!” If David’s response to his infant’s death was simply “I’ll die too one day” then his response to Absalom’s death is incomprehensible.

16 Isaiah refers to an age where children learn “the difference between good and evil” (Isa 7:16). In other words, there is an age where children still sin, but not because of their knowledge of sin. At the very least, this lets us know that God views the sins of infants as coming from a form of innocence, rather than from a discernment of good and evil.

Tomorrow we will continue this list with a look at what the NT teaches about those who die in infancy.

Yesterday we saw 16 verses in the OT that address the issue of what happens to little children who die. I hope you saw that the OT lays the groundwork for a category distinction: there are two kinds of sinners who die. There are those who die because of their sin nature, namely infants. And there are those who die because they love sin, and actively embrace it; namely, adults. This distinction is important to grasp because the NT does not reestablish it from the ground up but rather Jesus and Paul both teach in such a way that the distinction is reinforced.
Again, if any of these verses trouble you, simply skip them, and let the weight of the full list be enough to convince you. The numbering picks up where yesterday left off.

17 Jesus blessed little children. There are no examples of Jesus blessing anyone who was in open rebellion to God. Again, much like Jonah 4, Jeremiah 19, 1 Kings 11, this (at the very least) creates a category distinction between sinful adults in rebellion against God, and the childlike innocence of children (Matt 18:3-5).

18 In Matthew 18, Jesus not only blesses the children, but uses them as an earthly analogy of childlike faith. He says that “unless you are converted and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child– this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Everyone is free to debate what exactly Jesus means here, and there are Christian answers all over the spectrum. But at the very least, Jesus has to be implying that children in their current state would go to heaven if they died. Consider this statement: “my car is as fast as a cheetah, and unless your car is like a cheetah too, it can never be fast.” Everyone can debate what it means to be fast, or how fast my car really is, or if your car even should be fast. But the entire analogy would break down if cheetahs were not indeed fast to begin with. That is the assumption that makes the analogy make sense. Whatever Jesus is saying Matthew 18, it only makes sense if the destination of children who die is an enviable one.

19 Romans 5:13-14 makes the category distinction between those who sin like Adam (adults) and those who sin because of the imputation of Adam’s sin (infants). In making this distinction, Paul is carefully showing how death can reign even over those who don’t sin like Adam. He is repeating the theological distinctions made in Duet 1:39, 24:16, Jer 19:4 and Jonah 4:11, and lending theological support to the understanding that infants will not be punished in hell for their sins. (John Piper explains why it is best to understand Romans 5:13-14 as reference to infant death in Counted Righteous in Christ, 95-100).

20 That category distinction (between those who sin willingly and those who are born with a sin nature) is further strengthened by Paul’s introduction of those who sin by searing their conscience, and how that sin is seen in idolatry and sexual immorality—both sins that infants are incapable of. Because that passage sets the stage for understanding the soteriology of Romans, it is significant for this discussion that out of the gate, Paul frames the conversation in terms that exclude infants, and then seals that exclusion explicitly in Romans 5:13-14.

21 Jesus also validates this category distinction when he declares that there are people who die “in their sins” (John 8:24). Everyone who dies, dies because they are sinners by nature. If infants weren’t sinners by nature, they wouldn’t die! But there is a particular class of sinners—namely cognizant adults—that actively reject God. Those ones not only die, but they “die in their sins” because of their unbelief.

22 John 3 furthers this category distinction by teaching that “Everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed” (John 3:20). This simply does not describe infants who die, and the proximity to judgment passages (vv 18-19) validates this distinction.

23 Jesus lays claim in a particular way to the concept that children have a unique relationship to the Father. He declares that we should watch out for “children” in the faith, and it is best to see that admonition as applying to immature believers, rather than to actual children. But the analogy only works if actual immature children are to be the recipients of special care from people and God both. As MacArthur wrote, “No parent with six children is going to discover one of them missing and callously say ‘oh well, we still have five more’.” The analogy makes sense only if children are under God’s care in a special way.

24 People from every tribe, language, nation and ethnicity will be in heaven (Rev 5:10). Because so many languages and tribes have died out, this is only feasible through the salvation of infants. By the way, this is certainly given as a powerful claim to the glory of God’s saving nature.

25 All judgment passages in the Bible make clear that people go to hell for their active sin. This is especially clear in the description of hell in Revelation 21:8. People go to hell for what they have done, and this truth would be incomprehensible if infants were sent there.

26 The lists that are found in judgment passages are sins that infants lack the ability to commit. Jesus gives his list in Matt 15:19-20: “evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies. These are the things that defile a man, but eating with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” Let me ask this question: which category of sins best describe the way infants sin? Do they murder and lust, or do they eat with unwashed hands?

At the end of this list, two things should be crystal clear.
First, the Bible makes a category distinction between those who sin willingly (adults) and those who sin by their nature (infants). Adults can discern between right and wrong, and they love the wrong. They rebel against God despite natural revelation, and they will be judged for their works. Infants have a sin nature (that is why some of them die), but they do not sin IN THE SAME WAY as adults.

Second: with the exception of Job 3, there are not any passages that say “infants go to heaven when they die.” However, given the category distinction just made, it is obvious that every single time the Bible mentions infants who die, there is some indication that they receive mercy. It is not like there are six verses that talk about them going to heaven, and six that imply hell, and we are left to wrestle through. Every single verse that mentions this offers hope of heaven, and the cumulative weight should be overwhelming.

There are other theological truths we agree to that are developed from way fewer references than this. Thus, the case for infant salvation is unassailable, as there are literally no verses that teach the contrary.
