10/19/23 VICTORIOUS OVER ALL TEMPTATION
In Philippians 4:13, Paul tells us that he knows how to live in any and every situation. His words were, "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me."
I am fully aware of the context, the circumstances, the conditions and the obvious restrictions. It is not a Divine guarantee that a believer can run a four minute mile, speak foreign languages without study, or a multitude of other actions.
However, we cannot limit the principle of God's adequacy in our lives to this particular context. If God calls us to, or leads us into circumstances which are difficult or even, "impossible," He is able to see us through those conditions.
Likewise, Christ is adequate and willing to see us through spiritual trials. Victory over temptation and sin is not based on this verse. In fact there are hundreds of passages, which call us to victory and promise us victory. There is not one verse in the Bible that says Christians must sin.
Therefore the same words of this verse can be applied to the daily Christian life: "I can do all things (that God calls me to do, and He enables me to do, through Christ").
THROUGH CHRIST...
I can be led away from temptation.
I can resist temptation.
I can walk in the light, even as He is in the light.
I can follow in His steps.
I can bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
I can love perfectly, even as my heavenly Father loves perfectly.
I can keep His commandments.
I can do that which is pleasing in His sight.
I can walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
I can be pure, even as He is pure.
God's word makes it possible to resist temptation.
God's makes it possible to love Him with my whole heart, mind, soul and strength.
Perfect love makes it possible for me to obey Him fully.
He loved us while we wallowed in our sins.
He loved us when we wandered away.
He loves us when we are unlovable.
But He only saves those who repent of their sins.
If you have sinned since becoming a believer, Christ will be your atoning sacrifice. God calls you back to Himself. He is the advocate (stand between) for those who call on Him, from a contrite and broken heart.
Sin separates us from God, or God separates us from our sin(s).
Faith in Christ is our victory over sin.
God enables us to build ourselves up in our holy faith and He enables us to keep ourselves in the love of God.
God says these things in His word.
It is not ourselves, but Christ in us.
