04/01/23 IT IS JUST BEING BIBLICAL
I know people think I am crazy for constantly preaching deliverance from sin. People mistakenly think that I believe folks are born without sin nature or that it is possible for an unsaved person to not sin or that being saved makes it impossible for the believer to go back into sin or that believers can resist temptation by their own will power or that anyone can save himself or that anyone is saved by personal good works. NONE of those things are true.
However,
I do believe that salvation is salvation from sin (since that is exactly what the Bible teaches).
I do believe that God provides a way of escape from all temptation.
I do believe that greater is Christ and the Holy Spirit in us than he that is in the world.
I do believe that where sin did abound, grace did much more abound.
I do believe that those who love Christ will obey Christ.
I do believe that those who are born again do not commit sin (because the Bible clearly says this).
I do believe that the Holy Spirit will lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
I do believe that God's word in us makes it possible for us not to sin.
I do believe that God is greater than Satan.
I do believe that God is greater than sin.
I do believe that God's power in us is greater than our human weakness.
I do believe that God is glorified through our good works and our obedience.
I do believe that God commands obedience and holiness of life.
I do believe that God condemns all sin in us and condemns us when we allow sin in us.
I do believe that God will judge us according to the deeds done in the flesh and will punish us for our sin and reward us for our faithfulness.
There are plenty of Biblical reasons to trust and obey Christ and there are no Biblical reasons to distrust or disobey Christ. I believe that God cleanses faithful believers from all sin by the blood of Christ, the word of God and the Holy Spirit.
Yes, it is possible to fail God, to sin against God, but it is also possible for the backslider to repent and return to God. God is not pleased or glorified by sin and rebellion. God is glorified when He rightly judges the sinner, but He is glorified when His people trust, obey, follow, do good works.
There are plenty of people telling us that God can't save us from all sin. I am one who says He can, He will, He does save the faithful from all sin. He does lead us in triumph and growth and victory.
Even if a person stumbles in his desire to follow Christ fully, it is better to falter and repent than to surrender to the lie that God CANNOT save us from all sin and sinning, or that God WILL NOT save us from all sin and sinning.
It may seem to some people that I preach an unreachable level of salvation, but you will never know if you don't believe God's word and ask for God's grace. Sin and holiness are mutually exclusive, as are faith and disobedience.
If you do not believe the Biblical directive to turn from sin, you will never turn from sin.
If you do not believe the Biblical directive to be holy (righteous, pure. upright), you will never be holy (righteous, pure, upright).
If you do not believe the Biblical directive to obey, follow fully, live in victory, walk in the light or be conformed to the image of Jesus, you will never obey, follow fully, live in victory walk in the light or be conformed to the image of Jesus.
The same Bible that tells us we can be born again (that we must be born again) tells us we can resist all temptation (that we must resist all temptation).
The same Bible that tells us that we can walk in newness of life (that tells us we must walk in newness of life) also tells us that we can obey God's commands (that we must obey God's commands).
Living a life of faith (the just shall live by faith) is a miraculous work of God within us.
Anyone can sin, only the saved can be righteous.
Anyone can fail spiritually, only the saved can succeed spiritually.
Anyone can think, speak and act in the flesh, only the saved can think, speak and act in the Spirit.
Neither Christ nor the Bible commands spiritual failure.
Neither Christ nor the Bible commends spiritual failure.
Neither Christ nor the Bible condones spiritual failure.
Follow Christ and His word, do not follow sinning religion. Sin does not honor God, sin does not please God. We can honor God and we can please God by keeping His commandments and doing that which is pleasing in His sight.
1 John 2:1-6
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
