07/09/23 PRIDE IS A TERRIBLE THING

It separated the chief angel and a third of the angels from God.
It separated Adam and Eve from God.
It has separated all descendants of Adam from God.
Pride is what gets us separated from God.
Pride is what keeps us separated from God.

Consider these New Testament verses.

When Mary praised God for Jesus, she said:
Luke 1:51
He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Paul's list of sins in the life of a reprobate includes:
Romans 1:30
...Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,...

Paul told Timothy these people have corrupt minds:
1 Timothy 6:4
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

Paul said these would be the characteristics of end times people:
2 Timothy 3:2
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

James told us God's response to the proud:
James 4:6
But he gives more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

Peter told us God's response to the proud:
1 Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
