What would it take to replace you and what you do in your local church? 

Sometimes we judge ourselves to harshly and sometimes people don't take time to judge (evaluate) themselves or their service to God and their local church, enough. Some folks are like leeches, sucking the life out of others and giving nothing to God and His ministry.

Realizing our failure is a first step in changing our direction.

Even the most conscientious believer realizes that he is an unprofitable servant. We must not only give ourselves totally to Him, we must make sure that we stay totally committed to Him as our circumstances and situation changes.

This is an old thought, but more current than tomorrows breaking news.

It has always been a good idea for people to find a Bible believing church.
It has always been a good idea to become part of that local church.
It has always been a good idea to build your life around such a church. 

Sometimes it is not feasible to move a long distance in order to be part of such a church, but more often than not, it is the wisest thing a person can do.

I have already lost some folks, but I have something to add to my comment.

There are very good reasons for a person to find and then become part of a strong Bible church.

If a person knows of a really good, Bible believing church, and the person realizes that they have abilities, skills, gifts that will help that church do an even better job of proclaiming the truth, rescuing the lost and building the faith in others, then that is a very good reason to become part of that ministry.

The other reason is not so much what you might be able to do for that churches ministry, but what that church will do for you, your faith, your walk with God and the your family.

My first thoughts about someone coming to my church (whether they live around the block or across the country), is not what they can do for me and my ministry. Don't misunderstand me. We have great needs in our ministry and I highly respect each person's place in the body. However, I am more interested in what I can do to help a believer. Of course, it will be reciprocal. We will both benefit.

Now, I mentioned that it has always been a good idea. But now it is even more essential.

We need Bible truth and Bible living and we need Bible fellowship in the days ahead, more than we have ever needed it. 

Hebrews 10:22-25
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

MEN, do not forget, we start our Bible Theology In Genesis Study (in-person and online) 7:00 pm Thursday, May 4. I encourage Carteret County TNH men to meet in-person at The Net House whenever it is possible. If you would like to invite other men to join us either in-person or online, let me know ahead of time. I believe we may have some churchmen from South Carolina meet with us online. I would figure on sessions lasting 90 minutes. There will be opportunity for Questions and Answers, but I am teaching the class. This is not a time for arguing or debate. I will need to know if any men outside of The Net House wants to be part of this study.

I know that the "sovereignty" of sinning religion (supposed Christianity, which denies that God saves believers from the power and pollution of sin in this world), is not the sovereignty of the Bible or the sovereignty of the God of the Bible because the true God of sovereignty is righteous, just, loving, patient, kind, forbearing, long-suffering (slow to anger), full of mercy (delaying judgment and eager to forgive) and Christ provides salvation and cleansing from ALL SIN to WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM.

The God of the Bible is different from the god's of this world because He is both JUST and THE JUSTIFIER of those who believe (as an act of the free will, not the imposed act of God, irrespective of God given, free human choice).
The sovereignty of a false god is eager to execute judgment, mete out wrath, take pleasure in the death of those who die eternally, denies the wicked opportunity to turn from their evil ways, and he intentionally created people for the express purpose to sin and be punished, by which he claims to get pleasure and glory.

Though the true God is righteous and just and He does exercise wrath, this does not preclude the redemptive nature and work of God. He not only exercises love, HE IS love. He reveals Himself as merciful (delaying judgment and eager to forgive), loving, kind, forbearing, patient, longsuffering (slow to anger).

God reveals Himself as both redemptive and punitive, but He is only punitive when His free gift of love and redemption has been resisted and rejected. God is eager to provide, enable and reward righteousness, but He will also reveal and judge unrighteousness in those who turn from Him. God is not driven by anger, wrath, vengeance, merciless sovereignty. He is driven by His Love, His redemptive nature, His eagerness to reconcile the lost and restore the fallen. Otherwise He would not have made the Sacrifice for us on Calvary.

As the heat from the sun hardens clay and softens wax, so the sovereignty of God redeems the repentant and condemns the rebellious. God enables people to repent, God calls people to repentance; God blesses people (in order to draw them to Himself), and God afflicts people (in order to drive them to Himself), then God judges people according to their response, whether clay or wax.

God is not eager to show His wrath. God is eager to show His love, mercy, redemption, reconciliation. God has taken steps to deliver sinners, all of us, from His justified wrath.

God did not pour out His wrath on the cross, God lovingly sacrificed His Son on the cross to deliver us from His wrath; He satisfied the demand for wrath against our sins, for those who believe that Jesus takes away our sins .
The cross is a demonstration of God's love for us, not an act of wrath against His Son.

Jesus suffered for us, as a Sacrifice, to save us from the wrath of God. Jesus died for us, that is, He died as a Sacrifice, not as a sinner. He paid the price of death as a sacrifice, not as a victim or perpetrator.

He was our substitute as a sacrifice, not as an actual malefactor (criminal, evil doer, one who harms another), though men saw Him as being stricken, smitten of God, afflicted and though He was numbered with the transgressors, He was sacrificed for our sins, an offering for our transgressions. He took upon Himself our sins, as a scapegoat, on which the priests symbolically placed the sins of Israel to be carried away. Jesus is the Lamb of God that died for the sins of the world and He is the scapegoat Who takes away our sin. When the Bible says that He, Who knew no sin, became sin, it should be understood that He became our SIN SACRIFICE (as the term and phrase is actually used in the Old Testament). He did not become adultery, deception, murder, perversion. He became the sacrifice, the atonement, the propitiation, the satisfaction for our sins. This is what is meant by Jesus bearing our sins and taking them away.

God's justice (which is certain) is satisfied through God's mercy (which delays and even removes judgment for sin). If we do not accept God's merciful sacrifice by faith, we will be required to face God's vengeance and justice and punishment for our own sins. 

Romans 1:1-11
1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.
2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.
3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?
4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":
7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath,
9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;
10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

What kind of church,
Would my church be,
If all of the members,
Were just like me?

What would happen if you had a car, with all the right parts, but the parts were not installed, or the parts were not in working condition, or there was no fuel to run the car, even if all of the parts were present, installed and in working condition?
What would happen if you had a computer with all the right parts, but the parts were not installed, or the parts were not in working condition, or there was no power to run the computer, even if all of the parts were present, installed and in working condition?
What would happen if your body had all of its parts, but your brain was unable to communicate with some parts, or some of the parts were crippled or diseased, or there was no life in your body, even if it had all the parts, and even if the brain and nervous system was still physically connected to the organs and systems and even if the organs and systems were in perfect physical condition?

Pretty much, the answer to all three questions is the same, NOTHING.

This is true for local churches, though there are rare exceptions. Very seldom does a local church have all of its parts present and active and proficient. They may have a few folks who are giving themselves to the mission of their church. At best, very little is happening in that situation, and more often, NOTHING is really happening to fulfill the Great Commission or to become the local body that God wants it to be.

Stop. Look. Listen.

Find out what God wants you to do and to be, then follow Him in obedience and see what God can do with you.

(My article is not long but the passages at the end are long, and I realize you may not be able to read them now. However, the O.T. passages put "slow to anger" in context and the N.T. passages encourage us in time of trouble.)

I came across a great Bible truth some time ago but did not research the Biblical terminology at the time.

Some passages in the KJV refer to the "longsuffering" of God, while some other translations translate the same words (from Hebrew and Greek) as, "forbearing" or "slow to anger."

The phrase, "slow to anger" carries with it the idea of judgment delayed because of mercy.
God is patient, longsuffering, forbearing, slow to anger, delayed in wrath and judgment, because He loves the sinner and wants the sinner to be saved.

Yes, God knows who will be saved, because He knows who will believe and who will not believe. God provides the opportunity for salvation to us, but He does not make the choice for us. We are free to choose. God calls and enables us while we are yet in our sins, in other words, while we are dead in our sins and trespasses. We are able to choose sin while we are dead (separated from God) and we are able to respond to the call of God, to believe and repent while we are dead in our sins and trespasses (separated from God). God calls, enables and chooses those who believe.

He waits for us, giving us every opportunity. He delays His wrath and judgment because He does not want any to perish. But as many as will believe on Him shall be saved.

Consider these verses. I am going to include *(slow to anger)," along with the word, "longsuffering." 

Exodus 34:4-9
04 And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
05 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
06 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering *(slow to anger), and abundant in goodness and truth,
07 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
08 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.
09 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance. 

Numbers 14:13-24
13 And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)
14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.
15 Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,
16 Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.
17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,
18 The LORD is longsuffering *(slow to anger), and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

05 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

08 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
(when the Jews complained that God had opened the way of salvation to the Gentiles, Paul pointed out that God has the right to include whoever He wants to include.) 

Romans 9:14-33
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

While searching for a list I had written, concerning ABOUNDING GRACE, I came across this other post I had made. It is short, but it has great truth. I did not give Bible references. Sometimes I don't reference my points because I figure my audience realizes the Biblical foundation or I figure that those who are interested will either search the passages out or ask me for my authority. Today I added the references and the quotes at the end of this re-post. I also added an asterisk (*) to a line that summarizes the post. 

10/22/12 THE STORY GOES
The traveler stood in the river boat wheelhouse with stark amazement as the captain stealthily guided his vessel past the rotting remains of sunken and abandoned boats along the river. Finally he said, "You must know where every rock and shallow spot is located." The captain said, "No, but I do know where the deep water is." 

SET YOUR COURSE...
When we bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, we are staying in the deep waters.

When we walk in His steps; when we walk in the light even as He is in the light, we are staying in the deep waters.

When we deny ourselves, take up our cross daily and follow Him, we are staying in the deep waters.

When we read and believe His word; when we praise and worship; when we trust and obey; when we live in the Spirit; when we pray, in faith believing; when we serve Him and do His will... we are staying in the deep waters.

* If we stay in the deep waters of abounding grace, we will escape the shipwreck of our life and our soul.

Therefore, Launch Out and Hold Fast. Look unto Jesus as you Set Your Course, then Live by Faith until you Finish Your Course.

Did you hear me screaming this afternoon? While I was doing my exercise walk in TNH building I was listening to a YOUTUBE discussion concerning the historicity and factual record of Adam and Eve, as found in the Bible.

I am a Christian, therefore I believe the Biblical account, but it was interesting (spell that D I S T U R B I N G) to hear a supposed Bible believer try to explain away the Biblical record of Adam and Eve by espousing the idea that the Bible account of creation is MYTHO HISTORY. Yes, I have heard people try to equate Evolution with Creation, but this was more sophisticated and dressed in more evangelical terminology. The idea is that various forms of manlike creatures roamed the earth for 750,000 years, then God supposedly brought a male creature and a female creature together, and from those two people (referred to as Adam and Eve), came the entire human race. And this is supposed to be more palatable than Almighty God creating man in His own image. It is as absurd as the false teaching that angels cohabited with humans. Don't listen to those weirdos. You never know where there mind has been.

This so-called theologian, philosopher, Christian apologist believes that the MYTHO History is not intended to be a lie, but simply an explanation. He referred to the God's breathing into Adam's nostrils, the breath of life, by saying God blew into Adam's nose and considers God taking a rib from Adam to form the woman as ludicrous. He also laughs at the idea of a "talking serpent," a "magical tree" whose fruit gives immortality. His blasphemy is replete through the first 11 chapters of Genesis and continues into the teachings of Jesus and the Revelation at the end of the Bible. Yes, there is imagery in the Bible, but when you don't accept the facts of the Bible then you won't understand the imagery correctly.

So yes, I would walk and squawk, walk and squawk, scream, and walk faster. It turned out to be a good walking time and it stirred me up as I am preparing for my upcoming Men's Bible Theology In Genesis Study, this coming Thursday.

I believe God's word is true and inerrant because it is God's word. I don't try to make it fit "science." Academicians, historians, anthropologists, and other "scientists" have falsely accused the Bible of errors for centuries, but the Bible has been verified time and again.

I can't answer every question about life, but I know where life comes from and I know that the God of the Bible knows everything and He has all power and He has all wisdom. I don't care who comes up with a new find that "disproves" the Bible record. I already know they are wrong and probably will be proved wrong in the next several years. But even if they are not proved wrong in this lifetime, they will be proved wrong for eternity.

Whenever people try to make the Bible agree with fallacious human wisdom and knowledge, there is pride. This pride denies the word of God and tries to explain God in such a way that He is more palatable for the natural mind. They deny the true God, His nature, His attributes, His word. That is the wrong direction because if you come to God, you must come by faith; you must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. 

Hebrews 11:3
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

If you are not obeying the truth of God, you may be deceived, led astray by DOCTRINES OF DEMONS, or as the Bible says, BEWITCHED.

The Bible teaches, as Christians, we have a free choice to either obey God or not obey God. Various reasons cause a person to not obey God, but I noticed this one again this morning. Paul called some people "foolish," meaning, "morally deficient," because they chose the way of sin instead the way of obedience. Paul pointed out that those same people had been bewitched, deceived, led astray by wicked doctrines.

Do not be led away from obedience to God's truth by wicked doctrines. Any doctrine that says Christians are allowed or expected or required to disobey God, is an evil doctrine, A DOCTRINE OF DEMONS. 

Galatians 3:1 (NKJV)
1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

Yes, DOCTRINES OF DEMONS lead people to NOT OBEY THE TRUTH.

MEN, do not forget, we start our Bible Theology In Genesis Study (in-person and online) 7:00 pm Thursday, May 4. I encourage Carteret County TNH men to meet in-person at The Net House whenever it is possible. If you would like to invite other men to join us either in-person or online, let me know ahead of time. I believe we may have some churchmen from South Carolina meet with us online. I would figure on sessions lasting 90 minutes. There will be opportunity for Questions and Answers, but I am teaching the class. This is not a time for arguing or debate. I will need to know if any men outside of The Net House wants to be part of this study.
